Coordinated Transit and Human Services Plan Adopted

Southern Alleghenies Planning & Development Commission (SAP&DC), as a PennDOT planning partner, administers the transportation program for the Southern Alleghenies Rural Planning Organization (RPO), consisting of Bedford, Fulton, Huntingdon, and Somerset Counties.  On Wednesday, July 20, 2016, the Southern Alleghenies RPO adopted its Coordinated Transit – Human Services Plan.

The plan utilized a survey tool called MetroQuest to solicit and incorporate feedback from the public into the plans.  Nearly 200 individuals provided input on the Coordinated Transit Plan.  Additionally, listening sessions and stakeholder interviews were held to garner additional public input for the plan development.

The Coordinated Transit – Human Services Plan used public input from the aforementioned methods to examine transportation gaps of the region’s fixed route services, volunteer/non-profit services, shared ride services, and private transportation services.  After outlining the gaps and the issues associated with them, the plan then looks to potential solutions and provides an implementation plan.

The finished plan is available for download at http://www.sapdc.org/gov-non-profit/public-transit
