UMF Medical Showcases State & Federal Funding Programs (Cambria)

UMF Medical (formerly United Metal Fabricators) located in Johnstown, PA showcased their success in exporting during a tour and press conference on Monday, February 6th.  UMF Medical was recognized by the SBA, Congressman Critz and SAP&DC for their achievement in increasing exports through utilization of Federal and State export programs to expand their business in international markets.

UMF Medical has shown an increase in export sales of more than 60% over the last year.   Eileen Melvin, President and CEO, attributes their success in the Middle East to their participation in the PA booth at the Arab Health Show over the past five years and their participation in a trade mission to Saudi Arabia last year to secure and strengthen relationships with their Distributors in the country.  In past years, UMF Medical has utilized the PA Overseas Trade offices and the Market Access Grant (MAG) to assist them in penetrating international markets.  UMF Medical recently returned from Arab Health 2012 where they utilized the Global Access Program funding to exhibit this year.  Eileen has stated that the assistance with exporting through the State & Federal programs has allowed UMF Medical to retain its staff of 60 employees while assisting local and regional suppliers grow their business as well.

UMF Medical will be participating in the Governors Trade Mission to France & Germany in March 2012 and also plan to revisit Saudi Arabia in the near future to continue building on their relationships with current Distributors.

“This program helped UMF Medical determine opportunities to export our medical products, such as exam tables, cabinets, and chairs,” Melvin said.  “The Southern Alleghenies Planning and Development Commission (SAP&DC) employs staff through the State program dedicated to international trade.  With their assistance our export sales increased more than 60% over last year.”
